MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — November 4, 2026. Richard Montgomery is ahead of Mark Burton by 502 votes in the race for the second of two Manhattan Beach City Council seats, according to the latest unofficial tally displayed by NBC Los Angeles. Amy Howorth has the highest vote total in the four-person contest.
Latest reported figures
The NBC Los Angeles election-results tracker lists Amy Howorth at 6,748 votes (34.63%), Richard Montgomery at 5,767 (29.59%), Mark Burton at 5,265 (27.02%) and Joseph Ungoco at 1,708 (8.76%). The figures are candidate-vote shares in a two-seat contest, not turnout percentages.
With two positions to be filled, the difference between Montgomery in second and Burton in third is the margin of greatest immediate consequence for the remaining seat. That margin may change as additional eligible ballots are counted. Patch reported an earlier, smaller gap, so readers should compare returns by update time rather than treating them as contradictory.
What comes next?
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk says the next countywide election-results update is scheduled for Thursday, November 5, at 9 a.m. Pacific. The county has reported 2,279,750 ballots processed as of the November 4 evening release. That is a countywide total, not a Manhattan Beach figure.
The eventual winners will be determined by the completed official canvass; the current ranking should not be described as a certified outcome. Follow related reporting in California58’s Los Angeles County election-count update.
